ONLINE RESOURCES
I. ONLINE CATALOG (UVIAL)
The online computer catalog identifies the books and some of the periodicals owned by both St. Thomas and St. Croix libraries. If you are not sure which library owns an item, check the screen that gives the copy status.
Using the online catalog, select the title keyword option on the menu to find books on one of your assigned topics. How many titles did you find? ________________

II. SEARCHBANK (ELECTRONIC INDEX)
SearchBank is an electronic index that contains references (citations) to articles in periodicals. It includes references from scholarly periodicals and popular magazines. Some of the references, particularly the most recent ones, include the full-text of the article.
Use Netscape to access SearchBank:
From the UVI Libraries homepage (http://library.uvi.edu/index.htm).
Click on SearchBank
Click on proceed
On the Database Menu, click on Expanded Academic ASAP Int’l Ed.
Type your topic in the entry box
Click the subject guide button
Click on search button
SearchBank displays a summary of your search results.
Click on see also subdivisions
Select a subheading and click on that link
You should now have a listing of references to articles on your topic. Select an article on your topic and give the complete citation :

Look up the LCC sheet and identify the letters that correspond to your final project: __________________________ and one of your topics _____________________.

Reference books include handbooks, dictionaries, encyclopedias, directories, almanacs, databooks, and yearbooks. The reference books are arranged by LCC system.
Go to the reference books area where your LCC letters for your final project are located.

Circulating Books
Go to the area where circulating books with your LCC letters are shelved. Find a book on your topic. Write down the title and call number of a book you found. (You may use the title you found in the online catalog). Find that book on the shelf.

Go to the print indexes and abstracts area. Print indexes and abstracts are arranged alphabetically by title.
